Harmonic Capital Partners, a fixed income and currency specialist hedge fund manager, has hired two additional research analysts.

Headcount at the firm, which celebrates its third anniversary in May, now totals sixteen with a team of eight solely dedicated to investment and research. Assets under management have reached approximately USD 500 million and the new hires reflect Harmonic’s continuing commitment to managing long term growth in its institutionally focused business. They reflect the range of research opportunities identified by Harmonic as it continues to enhance the strategies implemented in fixed income and currency markets.

Sebastian Zurek joins Harmonic from Brevan Howard Asset Management where he was a Quantitative Trading Specialist researching and developing systematic trading strategies. Before joining Brevan Howard, he was a Director of Quantitative Research at Lehman Brothers. Sebastian has a PhD in Theoretical Physics and a first class degree in Physics and Theoretical Physics from Cambridge University.

Samir Sheldenkar joins Harmonic from Application Networks where he was a specialist software engineer focusing on the development of pricing models and risk management solutions for a range of financial products. Prior to this role Samir was an intern at Microsoft Corporation and is a graduate of both Oxford and Cambridge universities.

‘A successful hedge fund manager has to continually innovate,’ says Julian Samways, a Partner at Harmonic Capital Partners. ‘We are continuing to invest in our business by growing our research team because of the expanding universe of investment strategies we have identified for our Macro and Currency products.’
