US-based research firm, FactSet, has published its June 2010 Alphastars performance figures for APAC portfolios, with Citigroup’s Mark Bowers way ahead of the pack. Bowers generated seven ideas for his Asia ex-Japan portfolio, from which the Citigroup broker produced relative returns (versus MSCI APAC) of 15.55 percent: outperforming his peers by a double-digit margin. Even more tellingly, for Q2 2010, Bowers achieved an eye-popping 26 per cent relative return from eight ideas. His closest rival, Tim Franks (also of Citigroup), posted an 8.82 percent return. For the same period, FactSet’s Alphastars Japan top performer was Mizuho Securities’ Seijiro Takeshita, with 15.96 percent versus MSCI Japan.
