Former SEC commissioner Richard Y Roberts has been appointed to the Board of Directors of Cornell Capital Partners Offshore, a private investment firm specialising in structured finance and direct investments.
"Rick's extensive regulatory and legislative experience is a significant asset and his presence on the Board will be extremely valuable to our firm in that regard," said Mark Angelo, President and Founder of Yorkville Advisors, the investment manager to Cornell.
From 1990-1995 Mr Roberts served as a Commissioner of the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC). In addition, he served as a member of the District 10 Regional Consultative Committee of the National Association of Securities Dealers, Inc, and from 1999 to 2001, he served as a member of the Market Regulation Advisory Board of the NASD. From 1996 to 1998 he served as a member of the Legal Advisory Board of the NASD. Mr. Roberts was a partner at the law firm of Thelen Reid & Priest, from 1997 until March 2006.
Prior to his tenure at the SEC, Roberts was the Chief of Staff and the Legislative Director to former Congressman and Senator from Alabama Richard C. Shelby. He received a Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering from Auburn University, a JD from the University of Alabama School of Law and a Master of Laws from the George Washington University Law Center.
Currently he is a partner at Roberts, Raheb & Gradler, a regulatory and legislative consulting firm he co-founded in March 2006, where he provides legal, consulting and advisory services to clients on issues relating to financial institution regulation and legislation.
The addition of Mr Roberts brings Cornell's Offshore Board to six directors.
