Jersey-based legal and financial services group Mourant has expanded its international finance administration division into Asia with the opening of new offices in Hong Kong and Singapore.

The new footholds in Asia complement Mourant’s existing offices in Grand Cayman, Dubai, Guernsey, Jersey, London, Luxembourg, New York and San Francisco. The Hong Kong and Singapore offices will focus on providing private equity, real estate and hedge fund managers with Mourant’s fund administration services, which currently administer more than USD145bn in these asset classes.

The new offices will be headed by Hong Kong-based Tim Mann, who previously worked for Ernst & Young and Fortis and has extensive experience in the alternatives industry in Asia.

‘I’m delighted to have the opportunity to lead such a strong fund administration brand as it enters a new geographical market,’ Mann says. ‘Mourant’s highly professional and structured approach to providing fund administration services is outstanding, which is evidenced by the high quality of its client base.’

Mourant says its strategy is to provide a seamless cross-jurisdictional service to the alternative investment industry. The Singapore office at Six Battery Road, Raffles Place, is headed by Cengiz Somay, who recently transferred from his role as head of group strategy from the Mourant office in Jersey. The new Hong Kong office is at One Exchange Square, 8 Connaught Place in Central.

‘It’s important that we are well placed to help our clients manage funds that require multiple jurisdictional structures. Having offices in Asia places us at an advantage in being able to offer clients a broad range of services to suit both onshore and offshore funds across the globe.
