Dick Del Bello has joined San Francisco-based Conifer Securities, a provider of business and operations solutions to hedge fund managers, family offices, foundations and endowments, as a senior partner.

Based in Conifer’s New York office, Del Bello will work closely with chief executive Jack McDonald, to boost business development and guide strategic infrastructure initiatives.

Says McDonald: ‘With his vast experience and perspective, Dick is uniquely qualified to help us identify and deliver additional value-added services for our clients.’

Adds Conifer’s chairman and founder Phil Stapleton: ‘I’ve known Dick for over 25 years and I am delighted to have the opportunity to work with him.’

Del Bello was most recently head of prime brokerage for the Americas at UBS, responsible for prime brokerage, swaps and securities lending for the region, and also sat on the equities division operating committee for the Americas.

He joined UBS as part of its acquisition of PaineWebber, where he launched and ran the firm’s prime brokerage businesses. He began his career at the New York Stock Exchange and is currently a member of the NYSE Hearing Board.

‘The demand for top-tier operations and infrastructure is growing every day, and Conifer is equipped and perfectly positioned to meet this demand,’ Del Bello says. ‘Conifer is enjoying solid growth and I look forward to extending the firm’s capabilities to better help our clients manage their businesses.’

Conifer offers middle- and back-office services to its clients including global fund accounting and administration, trade operations, execution, executive office space, compliance, corporate accounting, consulting services and business infrastructure for both start-up and established managers. Established in 1989, Conifer has its headquarters in San Francisco and in New York, Boston and the British Virgin Islands.
