Hedge fund management group SilverStreet Capital has appointed Edwin Doeg, who previously worked for Gartmore Investment Management for 17 years between 1984 and 2002, as a director.

At Gartmore, Doeg was head of the bancassurance and retail businesses, managing a team of around 50 staff with responsibilities covering clients in the UK and Europe, and was a member of the management committee of Gartmore Fund Managers.

In 2002 he moved to Sweden where he has been working for the Skandia group and as a consultant to Odin Fonder, a niche Nordic fund management business.

‘We are very pleased to have Edwin on board,’ says SilverStreet Capital partner Gary Vaughan-Smith. ‘He has substantial experience in the investment management industry. Edwin and I worked together at Gartmore for 11 years and he brings broad investment, marketing and management experience to SilverStreet Capital.’

SilverStreet Capital is an alternative investment business that specialises in managing funds of hedge funds and invests globally across all hedge fund strategies. The firm was launched in April last year by Vaughan-Smith and Alex Da Costa with USD500m in assets under management, and currently manages more than USD600m.
