South Norwalk, Connecticut-based Cavu Capital Advisors, a fundamental long/short equity hedge fund manager, has announced the addition of Ken Sill to its investment team as a senior analyst covering the energy sector, reporting to portfolio manager Stephen Schwartz.

Sill was previously a director in the equity research group at Credit Suisse, which he joined in 1996. He was the primary analyst for the land and offshore drilling sectors between 1996 and 2001, and subsequently the senior oilfield services and equipment analyst up to this year.

He earlier worked as a process improvement consultant and internal auditor for Solvay America, spent four years with Price Waterhouse as a senior consultant and manager in its bankruptcy and litigation consulting services group, and was a tax professional at Arthur Young.

Cavu Capital Advisors, an investment advisor to hedge funds and separately managed accounts with some USD275m in assets under management, was founded by Schwartz in 2005 and focuses on the ‘old economy’, consumer, technology and energy sectors. Cavu seeks to maximise returns on the long and short sides using bottom-up primary research, an opportunistic trading strategy and disciplined risk management.
