RBC Capital Markets hires Europe head of hedge fund sales

RBC Capital Markets, the corporate and investment banking arm of Royal Bank of Canada, has hired Marc Fleischman as a managing director and head of hedge fund sales, Europe.

RBC Capital Markets, the corporate and investment banking arm of Royal Bank of Canada, has hired Marc Fleischman as a managing director and head of hedge fund sales, Europe.
 
Fleischman joins RBC Capital Markets with 17 years’ experience, most recently at Citigroup where he was a managing director. Prior to that, he was at Bear Stearns, where he was European head of interest rate derivative marketing to hedge funds. He has also held positions at Morgan Stanley and Dresdner Kleinwort Wasserstein.
 
Avril Pomper, head of fixed income and currencies and financial products sales, Europe, says: ‘The hire of Marc to our hedge fund team in London reflects our focus on growing our rate distribution to hedge funds in Europe. We see hedge funds as a growing client segment and are keen to develop our relationships with these important institutions.’
 
Over the last 12 months RBC Capital Markets has hired in excess of 300 people throughout its global capital markets operations.

The firm also announced this week that it has hired Phil Halper as a director in its rates trading team in London. This follows the appointments of Arif Hussein and Peter Drewienkiewicz who both joined RBC Capital Markets from UBS on 1 July 2009 as directors in its London-based rates sales and trading team.
