Leading offshore law firm, Mourant Ozannes, announced this week it has opened an office in Hong Kong to provide clients with access to the firm’s offshore legal services in an Asian time zone. Three partners are in the new office which will initially focus on investment funds, corporate and finance work. Paul Christopher will oversee the establishment of the office in his capacity as Managing Partner and is joined new Mourant Ozannes partners, Alex Last and Simon Lawrenson. Last specializes in investment funds and heads the Cayman practice in Asia, while Lawrenson, who specializes in corporate and finance, leads the BVI practice in Asia. Also joining the team are senior lawyers Danielle Roman and Bronwyn King. Both practice Cayman Islands and BVI law. Jonathan Rigby, Managing Partner of Mourant Ozannes, said that establishing the new office in Hong Kong was “an obvious strategic move” for the firm. “Between them, the members of our Hong Kong team bring a wealth of knowledge and experience in their respective fields, having practiced with leading law firms in major finance centres both onshore and offshore.
