TIG Advisors, an investment platform that oversees more than USD1.8bn across multiple strategies, has appointed Kenneth Goodreau, former chief investment officer of the USD8bn Rhode Island State Pension, as chief investment officer, effective 1 January 2013.

In this new role, Goodreau (pictured) will develop and manage various aspects of TIG’s investment platform, including creating multi-manager solutions for institutional investors, sourcing portfolio management talent and providing thematic investment research.

“We are pleased to welcome a professional of Ken’s calibre to TIG Advisors,” says Spiros Maliagros, president of TIG. “We look forward to leveraging Ken’s deep institutional relationships and broad expertise as both an investor and allocator to support our platform as it continues to grow.”

Goodreau says: “TIG has built a world-class platform and I am excited to work with senior management to further develop TIG’s portfolio managers and their unique businesses. Having built a strong direct investing platform over the last six years, I am confident that TIG’s managers can play an integral role in client portfolios’ success.”

Prior to joining the Rhode Island Treasurer’s Office in 2007, Goodreau was general partner and portfolio manager of Knollwood Capital Partners, a long/short equity hedge fund. Previously, he was a senior research analyst at Leerink Swaan & Co.
