GoldenTree Asset Management, an investment firm that manages alternative and traditional asset strategies for sophisticated institutional and high net-worth investors, has hired Brian Marshall as managing director in the firm’s business development group.

Marshall is based at GoldenTree’s New York City headquarters and reports to Thomas Humphrey, partner and head of business development.

“I have known Brian for more than 15 years and have great respect for his expertise in leveraged finance and structured credit markets,” says Humphrey. “His experience and long track record of success in capital markets and investment banking reflects our continued commitment to grow our business and attract the best people.”

Prior to joining GoldenTree, Marshall was a managing director in structured credit products at Barclays Capital, a position he held since 2008. At Barclays, he focused on highly complex structured finance transactions and restructuring opportunities across US and European fixed income markets. His areas of responsibility were credit and mortgage products including CLO’s and leveraged loans, credit correlation, esoteric ABS and structured finance CDO’s backed by RMBS and commercial real estate.

He began his career in investment banking in 1998 at Lehman Brothers in New York City as an analyst in the firm’s insurance solutions group, before moving to structured credit products as an associate in 2000. From 2000 to 2008, he held a number of leadership roles in fixed income and structured credit and in 2007, was promoted to managing director and head of structured credit sales in North America.
