DWIM adds to distressed corporate team

Related Topics

DW Investment Management (DWIM), a USD6bn global multi-strategy credit management firm, has appointed Joel Biran and John Buck, former managing directors at Versa Capital, to the firm's distressed corporate team.

Biran and Buck represent senior additions to DWIM's existing team and bring expertise in rescue finance, middle market lending, turnarounds and other operationally intensive workout and distressed-for-control situations.

The new additions will focus on expanding DWIM's stressed and distressed corporate credit efforts, with an emphasis on investments in distressed and underperforming middle market companies.

"Joel and John have a breadth and depth of experience originating, structuring, and managing investments in troubled companies," says David Warren, the firm's founder and chief investment officer. "We are very excited to add both of them to our team and are confident their expertise will expand the spectrum of investment opportunities for DWIM and generate enhanced value for our investors."

Prior to joining DWIM, Biran and Buck were managing directors at Versa Capital Management where they focused on control investments in distressed middle market companies. Before his time at Versa, Biran pursued a similar investment strategy while at American Capital.

Prior to Versa, Buck was a member of the private equity team at New York-based Cerberus Capital Management.  He was a co-founder of TenX Capital, a Cerberus partnership that focused on control investments in underperforming technology, telecommunications, and business services companies.
