Deutsche Bank has strengthened its Structured and Investment Products team in NY with the hires of Iván Santillán and Keith Cunningham from Merrill Lynch.

Deutsche Bank has hired Santillán as a Director and Cunningham as a Vice President in the Structured and Investment Products Group within the Bank’s Global Equities Derivatives department.

Santillán will be responsible for Latin America product coverage, a new position. Cunningham will be part of the origination team led by Michael Chun, Director, who is responsible for origination, hedge fund sales and institutional client solutions.  Joining from Merrill Lynch, Santillán and Cunningham report to Matthew Carrara, Managing Director, Head of Global Equity Derivatives for the Americas, and are based in New York.

Carrara said: “Adding Iván and Keith to our already successful team will further enable Deutsche Bank to meet the growing demand for its structured product expertise and expand its offerings to the important Latin America region.”

Santillán joins after five years at Merrill Lynch where most recently he focused on the origination and sales of equity linked structured products to clients in Latin America. From 1999 to 2001, he served as head of equity trading for the firm’s Buenos Aires office.  Cunningham joins after six years at Merrill Lynch where most recently he was part of the Americas origination and sales of equity linked structured products team.

Deutsche Bank has been steadily building its Structured and Investment Products Group in the Americas in the past months.  In March, Andrea Minetti, Managing Director, moved from Deutsche Bank in London to New York to spearhead the structured products strategy for the Americas. The Bank also hired David Mitchell as Vice President from Wachovia Bank in April to work for Karen Fang, Director, responsible for the Investment and Structured Products distribution.

The Structured and Investments Products Group is a major component of Deutsche Bank’s Global Equity Derivatives business.  Globally, the group numbers approximately 100 professionals and reports to Johan Groothaert, Managing Director, Global Head of Structured and Investment Products.
