J Michael Roebuck has joined law firm Tannenbaum Helpern Syracuse & Hirschtritt LLP as Senior Counsel.

Roebuck will be responsible for handling ERISA and Executive Compensation issues at the firm and reports to Michael G Tannenbaum, Founding Partner and Head of the Financial Services, Hedge Funds and Capital Markets practice group.

"Michael brings an exceptionally high calibre of expertise to our firm both from the corporate sector and from top tier law firms," said Michael G Tannenbaum. "Given our focus on service based on sound business judgment, he will be instrumental to our practice as large institutional investors, especially pension investors, make ERISA issues increasingly more important for hedge funds."

Roebuck was most recently Senior Counsel at Citigroup where he was responsible for all ERISA issues associated with the investment of an USD 11.5 billion pension plan and USD 11 billion 401(k) plan. Prior to Citigroup, he was at Paul, Weiss, Rifkind, Wharton & Garrison LLP, where he worked on investment funds regarding ERISA Title I matters. Before that, Roebuck was an Associate at Cleary Gottlieb, Steen and Hamilton, LLP. Roebuck received a Bachelor of Arts in Government from University of Notre Dame, a Juris Doctor from Cornell Law School and a Master of Industrial and Labor Relations from Cornell School of Industrial and Labor Relations.
