BNP Paribas Corporate and Investment Banking has made two appointments in its prime brokerage business.

Jeffrey Mettel has joined the capital introduction team as a director in New York and Afi Lowery, also a director, moves to manage the capital introduction effort for the southwest region based in Dallas, Texas.

Both report to Emma Sugarman, head of capital introduction, Americas.

Sugarman says: "Jeff is a great addition to the capital introduction team, his experience in asset allocation brings invaluable perspective to our clients and depth for our investors. I’m also delighted to welcome Afi. Her knowledge of BNP Paribas’ Prime Brokerage business and senior relationships coupled with her experience in the hedge fund industry will combine to make her a great success in capital introduction."

Prior to joining the firm, Mettel was co-founder of Muirfield Capital Management, a fund of hedge funds. Before Muirfield, he spent several years in investment banking for firms including Prudential Securities and the Jordan, Edmidton Group.

Lowery has been with the BNP Paribas prime brokerage team since 2000 as a director. Previously she held positions for Nynext and a hedge fund in Atlanta. Lowery is a founding member of the Texas Women on Wall Street organisation.
