Chicago-based Bridge Advisors, an investment advisor specialising in alternative investment consulting and education, has appointed financial industry veteran Robert C Bernard as the firm’s president.

Bridge provides alternative strategy and investment consulting services to investors and their advisors to help them understand, identify and develop allocation strategies to fit their individual objectives and risk profile.

Bernard was most recently a partner at Parke Capital advising start-up and expansion-stage companies in their dealings with the venture capital community, having previously been a financial advisor with New England Financial and Axa.

His investment banking experience was developed at Brooks Houghton and as a managing director with Kouri Capital, an international merchant banking firm with projects in emerging markets such as China, Russia, and India.

As a founding partner and managing director of Kouri spin-off Millennium Capital in Washington DC, Bernard was involved in senior-level business and government strategic planning and development of international telecommunications and media projects.

Bernard began his career after graduating from the account executive training programme at Merrill Lynch, spending five years at Merrill’s Madison Avenue office before joining the institutional sales department at LF Rothschild.

He then joined Technological Investment Management before spending 12 years at Donaldson, Lufkin & Jenrette as a vice-president serving wealthy private investors, family offices, hedge funds and mid-size institutions.
