Mark Chambers has joined Ozannes as a corporate partner to boost its already rapidly expanded team. Chambers joins Ozannes’ Jersey office, which has seen strong success since it opened in September 2006.

Having qualified as a barrister in 1996, Chambers practiced in London before moving to Jersey in 1998 to work for a local law firm. He joined Bedell Cristin in 1999 and was elevated to the position of senior lawyer in 2001. He specialises in banking, corporate, commercial, structured finance and investment funds. His practice has focussed particularly on structured and project finance, corporate acquisitions, mergers, investment funds and private equity, and he brings with him strong expertise to build on the teams already strong reputation. Mark was identified as a "future star" by the Legal 500 in 2006 and is highly rated by existing clients of Ozannes.

Ozannes’ corporate team has a growing client list and is boosted by the litigation department, formed in March and headed by new partner Mark Temple. The office now has a licence to employ 50 staff in Jersey and has grown out of its current premises already, necessitating temporary additional premises to be taken. With ambitious expansion plans exceeded, the current team will move in to larger premises on the Esplanade later this year where they will be in a position to sustain the rapid growth experienced to date.

The Jersey office of Ozannes already acts for major blue chip clients and is currently advising on several high profile transactions. It regularly receives instructions from most UK magic circle law firms. There are presently 9 fee earners in the Jersey corporate team alone, which in less that 12 months places it in the upper quartile of Jersey corporate practices. Ozannes is presently recruiting for more corporate lawyers and litigators.

Guernsey Senior Partner, Roger Perrot, says; "The success of the Jersey practice has well exceeded our expectations, and has provided the impetus to get the next phase of our (quite remarkable) expansion under way. We are delighted to welcome Mark in to the firm as a partner to build on the success of the Jersey team established by Marcus Stone.’
