PricewaterhouseCoopers has appointed Pars Purewal, a partner since 1995, as head of its UK alternative investments practice, covering hedge funds, private equity and real estate, responsible for co-ordinating the firm’s services in the alternatives sector.

‘It is an exciting and challenging time to be taking on this role and along with my team, 1 will help our clients address the challenges and navigate through the complexities of operating in this very dynamic and fast growing sector,’ Purewal says.

‘Many significant players such as global investment banks, mainstream asset managers, stand-alone listed alternatives players and niche players are very active already or, if they are not, plan to be active in this space.

‘There is a wealth of opportunity for PricewaterhouseCoopers to grow its existing GBP100m business in this sector. My role is to help us focus so that we double this part of our practice in the next three to four years.’

Purewal will retain his current role as investment management and real estate leader at PricewaterhouseCoopers as well as taking direct responsibility for the alternative investments practice. He also sits on the PricewaterhouseCoopers European and global investment management leadership teams.
