Jeffrey L Gould has been appointed managing director and global head of distribution for Citi Alternative Investments, responsible for overseeing all of its sales and distribution efforts for institutional and high net worth clients. He will report to chief administrative officer Don Callahan.

Gould joins Citi Alternative Investments from Renaissance Technologies, one of the world’s largest hedge fund managers, where he was president of Renaissance Institutional Management.

Before joining Renaissance in 2005, he was with Putnam Investments for 17 years, holding various senior-level institutional and strategic relationship positions, including managing director and head of institutional sales and consultant relations. Earlier in his career, Gould was a vice-president of institutional sales with Citicorp Investment Management Group and Value Line Asset Management.

‘Jeff’s depth of experience and extensive knowledge of the institutional marketplace will be a tremendous asset to our business,’ Callahan says. ‘His deep knowledge of client servicing will likewise enhance our ability to excel in customer service in both the institutional and private client arenas.’

Citi Alternative Investments is an alternative investment platform that manages a wide range of products covering private equity, hedge funds, real estate and structured products and manages capital on behalf of Citi, as well as third-party institutional and high net worth investors. At the end of September, the business had some USD61.9bn in unlevered assets under management, ranking it among the world’s largest alternative asset managers.
