Old Mutual Asset Management has hired Sanford Brown as director of alternative investments.

He reports to Keith McRedmond, director of global investment services.

Brown is responsible for client service, business development and marketing of Old Mutual Asset Management’s alternative investment capabilities.

He will initially focus on the hedge fund of funds and registered fund capabilities of Larch Lane Advisors, an Old Mutual affiliate.

He will also help grow a platform of alternative strategies from Thompson, Siegel & Walmsley, 2100 Xenon, 300 North Street Capital, Old Mutual Asset Managers (UK), and other Old Mutual investment affiliates.

Brown joined Old Mutual Asset Management from Deutsche Bank Absolute Return Strategies, where as vice president and head of hedge fund distribution he helped raise over USD2bn in new assets across multi-manager and single-manager hedge fund strategies.

Previously, he was regional vice president at GAM, a London-based investment manager, where he helped to raise over USD10bn in new assets across a variety of strategies.
