Stefan Nilsson (pictured), master networker and founder of the Hedge Funds Club in 2005 while running a small global macro shop in Tokyo has joined Canadian real estate manager TSI International Group to help expand the firm’s Asian business. Nilsson was formerly an executive director at J.P. Morgan, heading up the bank’s cap intro team in Japan. He left this year to become founder and CEO of HFC Advisory to introduce global hedge fund managers to Japanese/Asian investors. Nilsson will act as a senior adviser to TSI’s Asian operations. The firm is heavily involved in land banking and urban renewal in Greater Toronto and has a large percentage of Asian investors. Commenting on Nilsson’s appointment, FINalternatives quoted Stephen Huggins, president of TSI International Group KK, as saying: “Stefan is one of the best connected people in the Japanese and Asian alternative investment industry. With him on our team we plan to further grow our business, especially on the institutional side in Asia where we see great growth potential as investors are increasing their exposure to alternative investments.”
