Finisterre Capital, the absolute return emerging market specialist, has appointed Christopher Buck as head of credit research.

The hire comes as part of further strengthening of Finisterre’s investment team, in response to the strong growth of both the Finisterre Credit Fund’s and the firm’s overall assets under management.

Buck was most recently at Barclays Capital where he was the head of LatAm corporate credit research, managing a team covering investment grade, high yield and distressed bonds in the region.

In May, Bartosz Pawlowski joined Finisterre from BNP Paribas where he was previously the global head of emerging market strategy. In June, Finisterre announced that Kevin Bespolka had joined the firm as co-portfolio manager on the UCITS-compliant Finisterre EM Debt Fund, focusing on Local Markets, FX and Rates. Ying Zhang also joined in June from the JP Morgan CIO Office where he was a portfolio manager.

The firm’s UCITS fund recently passed its one year anniversary, generating 8.7 per cent in its first 12 months and growing from USD55 million to approximately USD450 million.

Paul Crean, chief investment officer and co-founder of Finisterre, says: “The institutional inflows over the last year have emphasized our ability to deliver alpha for our clients in a format that meets their needs. During this period we have been consistently looking to expand our team with exceptional investment.”
