Hazeltree, a provider of integrated buy-side treasury management solutions, has appointed Askin Leung to lead its expansion in the Asia Pacific region as Managing Director and Head of Hazeltree Asia Pacific.

Leung will be based in the firm’s Hong Kong office. He will be responsible for managing Hazeltree’s business in the region. Hazeltree plans to expand this office and significantly increase staffing over the next year.

Leung brings an understanding of client needs along with extensive management experience, which will help Hazeltree meet the increased demand for its treasury management solutions.

His top priority is ensuring the delivery of top-tier client experiences that maximize the value provided by Hazeltree’s solutions over time.

“We are excited about adding Askin to our management team. He brings a wealth of insights and on-the-ground experience in the Asia Pacific markets,” says Sameer Shalaby (pictured), President and Chief Executive Officer. “He will play an important role in responding to the increased demand for Hazeltree’s treasury solutions in the region, to help our clients improve operational efficiencies, reduce counterparty risks and incrementally generate alpha from their treasury and portfolio finance functions.”

Leung has an extensive background in buy-side fintech solutions as both a supplier and client. He has a solid track record of building winning teams and successful businesses from the ground up, transforming them into recognised market leaders in the region.

“My goal is to focus on existing customer needs first, while we expand our sales activities across the region,” says Leung. “We are seeing an increased demand for Hazeltree’s innovative treasury solutions and I am excited to be joining the firm at this important juncture. I see a significant opportunity to help our customers reduce their operating costs and improve counterparty exposure management while capitalising on treasury and portfolio finance alpha opportunities.”

Leung has been at Broadridge/Paladyne for the last ten years. He launched the investment management solutions business at Paladyne Systems in the region and oversaw its growth as a market leader until it was acquired by Broadridge Financial Solutions in 2011. In 2016, his role was expanded to include Broadridge’s sell-side North Asia business as General Manager in Hong Kong. Prior to joining Broadridge, he was Head of Technology for a multi-billion-dollar, multi-strategy hedge fund based in Hong Kong. Earlier in his career, he served as the Head of Implementation for Asia Pacific at Linedata Services/Beauchamp, a provider of portfolio management software.
