Accountancy and business advisory firm BDO has appointed a new audit partner to join its expanding financial services team.

Ariel Grosberg joins BDO following 15 years at PwC working across retail banking, brokerage houses, hedge funds, leasing, and corporate treasury firms.

His client base ranges from FTSE 100 and FTSE 250 companies, building societies and UK subsidiaries of overseas parents.

Grosberg, who is the third partner to join the financial services team at BDO in 18 months, says: “The UK, and London in particular, is home to one of the most dynamic financial economies globally. BDO’s financial services team fully understands the issues and regulatory challenges faced by clients in the sector and already has an impressive client base. I am looking forward to continuing my work with larger well-established institutions as well as servicing those that are newer to the market.”

Neil Fung-On, head of financial services at BDO, adds: “Financial services remains a growing sector for us and our team has grown significantly this year. We are continuing to help clients retain and grow assets, mitigate risk and respond to ever-changing regulatory and technological requirements.

“The appointment of Ariel reinforces our commitment to ensuring we provide our clients with quality advice that allows them to manage these demands and challenges.”

Last week BDO announced it was in advanced merger discussions with Moore Stephens, which also has a strong financial services practice, with particular experience in the insurance sector.

Ariel’s appointment is the latest in a long line of partners that have joined BDO. The firm said it has attracted more than 60 new partners to the business in the last two years.
