“I’m so excited that we’re able to attract an executive of Randy’s stature and experience to our growing firm,” says Melissa Kelley-Hilton, Founder and CEO of Hilton Global. “Randy and I have known each other throughout our many years working in the industry. His knowledge of the alternatives space is unparalleled – he literally wrote the book on hedge fund due diligence. Additionally, Randy’s understanding of what it takes to build a thriving business in this space will prove invaluable in building a world-class investigative firm.”
Shain brings over thirty years of experience to Hilton Global, providing investigative and fact-gathering services to funds of funds, investment banks, endowments, foundations, consultants, and others. Shain authored the industry-defining book, Hedge Fund Due Diligence: Professional Tools to Investigate Hedge Fund Managers. Recently, he served as Chief Operating Officer of Blue Heron Research Partners, an international qualitative due diligence research firm. He also co-founded investigative due diligence firm BackTrack Reports, which was acquired by First Advantage, where he led discrete investigations of over 8,500 hedge funds and 20,000 hedge fund managers.
“The decision to help Melissa build Hilton Global was an easy one for me,” says Shain. “Not only is she one of the most highly regarded people in the industry, someone who puts integrity above all else, but we are also exploring various uses of technology and other processes that I believe will clearly differentiate us from other players in our market. This is an incredibly exciting opportunity, and I look forward to helping her build Hilton Global into an industry leader.”
