ProMeritum Investment Management, an emerging markets fixed income manager focussing on Eastern Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EEMEA), has appointed Arnaud Beernaert as its new Head of Investor Relations and Business Development.

Beernaert was previously Head of Business Development for Gladwyne Investments, where he helped double the firm’s assets in three years. Before that, Beernaert worked in senior capacities for other hedge funds, from large and established ones, such as BlueMountain Capital and Graham Capital, to start-ups, such as Areski Capital. Beernaert was previously also a Manager at McKinsey & Co and started his career as a corporate lawyer. He is fluent in three languages: English, French and Dutch.

Pavel Mamai, Founding Partner of ProMeritum, says: “We are delighted to welcome Arnaud to the firm. He is an important hire for us and will help push the business forward in the next stage of our growth. Arnaud has significant experience raising capital for firms at all development stages, and complements this with a broader background in management consulting and law, which is rather unique”.

Beernaert adds: “I am delighted to be joining ProMeritum. It is a firm with a solid reputation, a clearly differentiated strategy and an institutional quality infrastructure which is typically not seen in organisations of that size. It speaks volumes about the ambitions of the team. I cannot wait to help the company grow and take it to the next level.”

Arnaud holds a degree in Law from Université Catholique de Louvain (Belgium), where he graduated with the highest marks in his cohort, as well as an MBA from the Kellogg School of Management in Chicago. He is a CFA Charterholder and also a keen runner, completing the Marathon des Sables, a weeklong 250 km running competition in the Moroccan Sahara.
