Balyasny Asset Management has expanded its number of partners for only the third time in the $17 billion hedge fund firm’s history with seven promotions, according to a report by Business Insider.

The report cites an internal memo as confirming the promotions at the multi-strategy giant, which was founded by Dmitry Balyasny in 2001 along with Scott Schroeder and Taylor O’Malley. 

The seven new partners, all of whom work on the investment side of the business are: Mayank Chamadia, Steve Goldberg, Jay Hew, David Levary, Patrick Staub, Caesar Yuan, and Chris Weltzer.

Following Wednesday’s announcement, Balyasny now has 21 partners, including the three founders, who all own stakes in the firm.

The last round of partnership additions at the firm came in 2021 with 10 promotions, while a sole new partner was also appointed in 2007.
