Commodities specialist Damien Bombelli is to join Eisler Capital in a  move that could help the London-based hedge fund boost a less profitable part of its business as it continues to transition to a multi-strategy investment firm, according top a report by Reuters.

The report cites an unnamed source and a regulatory filing as confirming that Bombelli, who has worked at investment firms and banks including Millennium Capital Management and JP Morgan Chase & Co, is to join the $3.5 billion firm. His role will allow him to deal with client funds, according to the website of UK regulator the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA).

The FCA’s register shows that Bombelli was approved to work at Eisler Capital on 5 December although when he will take up his role or where he will be based have not been confirmed.

According to his LinkedIn profile, Bombelli worked at JP Morgan as a proprietary trader on the macro desk before leaving to set up his own metals, grains and energy hedge fund Strand Asset Management in 2011.

More recently, he worked at Millennium Capital Management in Singapore until 2018, managing portfolios which traded from macro economic indicators.
