Hedgeweek has announced the winners of the Hedgeweek European Awards 2023, which recognise excellence among fund managers and service providers in Europe across a wide range of categories.
Voting for the awards, which were presented today (9 March) at an exclusive ceremony and networking event at the Reform Club, London, was conducted via an online poll of the entire Hedgeweek userbase, where participants were asked to make their choice among the shortlisted firms in each category.
The manager categories cover a wide spectrum of investment strategies and fund types– encompassing the hedge fund, multi-manager, emerging manager and liquid alternatives universes. The service provider categories span all the key areas of the broader hedge fund industry ecosystem.
Pre-selection data for the awards was provided by Bloomberg, based on annualised returns over the 12 months from 30 September, 2021 to 30 September, 2022 by funds in the following categories:
The hedge fund manager award categories include UK and European-based single-manager and multi-manager hedge funds with a track record of more than three years and over $50 million (except the Smaller Hedge Fund Category, which can be up to $50m) in AuM.
The women-managed fund award category includes all hedge funds that have self-disclosed to Bloomberg as being managed by women, with a track record of more than three years. This category has no AuM minimum.
The liquid alternatives manager award categories include UK and European single-manager funds employing a hedge-fund-like strategy outside of the traditional hedge fund structure with a track record of more than 3 years and over $50 million in AuM.
The emerging manager award categories include UK and European-based single-manager hedge funds with a track record of less than 3 years. These categories have no AuM minimum.
For the service provider categories, the nominated firms are based on a widespread survey of more than 100 fund managers and other key industry participants.
Nominations for all categories are based on annualised performance over a 12-month period from May 31, 2021 to May 31, 2022. Nominations in various award categories are further split by size and strategy as specified in the award name.
