Former Morgan Stanley MD quits new hedge fund role after just three months

James Beeston, a former managing director and co-head of EMEA prime brokerage at Morgan Stanley who joined London-based hedge fund Marble Bar in March 2023, has quit the firm after just three months, according to a report by eFinancial Careers.

James Beeston, a former managing director and co-head of EMEA prime brokerage at Morgan Stanley who joined London-based hedge fund Marble Bar in March 2023, has quit the firm after just three months, according to a report by eFinancial Careers.

According to LinkedIn, Marble Bar, which was founded in 2002, specialises in equity strategies including Chelodina, a multi-PM equity strategy, and several equity focused partner funds.

The report says it is unclear why Beeston has left or what he intends to do next.

Beeston, a former British Army office in the 1st Battalion of the Princess of Wales’s Royal Regiment, spent nearly 23 years at Morgan Stanley, having first joined the firm as operations manager in May 2020. 

During his time at the firm, Beeston also served as executive director prime brokerage and managing director prime brokerage.
