OCIO Appomattox appoints deputy chief investment officer
Appomattox Advisory, Inc (Appomattox), a New York-based Outsourced Chief Investment Officer (OCIO) firm founded in 2005, has appointed Grange Johnson as deputy CIO, focusing on portfolio construction, manager research and business development.
Johnson has over 30 years of financial industry experience, particularly in event driven and credit strategies. He founded and led alternative investment firms, including a distressed/special situations fund manager. He also served as managing director of investment banking at BTIG, and prior to that, as Managing Director at GAMCO Investors where he built a distressed securities business, and as a research analyst at Perry Partners.
Johnson, who spent his formative business years in Merrill Lynch’s restructuring group and at McKinsey & Co advising Fortune 100 companies on operational turnarounds, earned a BA from Brown University and an MBA from Columbia Business School, where he served as a guest lecturer on event driven investing.
