Activist investment firm Blackwells Capital, and a shareholder of The Walt Disney Company (Disney), has nominated three candidates for election to the entertainment giant’s Board of Directors – Jessica Schell, Craig Hatkoff and Leah Solivan.
The trio will be seeking election at the company’s 2024 annual meeting of shareholders.
Separately, another activist hedge fund, ValueAct Capital, has reached a deal with Disney to advise on strategy and support its director nominees at forthcoming meeting.
The moves place both funds in opposition to a third activist investor, Trian Fund Management, which has been agitating for change at Disney, including the removal of CEO, Robert Iger, with Trian CEO boss Nelson Peltz having nominated himself and former Disney chief financial officer, James Rasulo, for board membership..
