Vinod Paul, President, Align Managed Services – named Cloud Services Provider of the Year at the Hedgeweek USA Awards 2025 – outlines what sets the company apart from competitors and how it’s helping clients meet current challenges and opportunities.
Please describe your core service offering and how it uniquely addresses the current needs of US hedge fund managers
Align Managed Services, a Microsoft Tier 1 CSP and Gold Partner, delivers specialized managed IT, cloud, and cybersecurity solutions built for hedge funds. Our Align IT Suite streamlines operations, strengthens regulatory-ready security, and accelerates time-to-market—freeing managers from daily IT burdens so they can focus on performance and growth.
What three key differentiators of your business and service suite have most contributed to your success in the North American market?
Align’s success in the North American market stems from deep financial-sector specialization, enabling technology solutions tailored to the operational, security, and regulatory needs of hedge funds. Our Align IT Suite provides an integrated managed platform that streamlines day-to-day operations and scales with client growth. Advanced cybersecurity capabilities, including 24/7 monitoring, identity security, and compliance-aligned controls, help managers strengthen resilience while meeting increasing regulatory expectations.
Which market developments or regulatory shifts do you anticipate will most significantly impact your service delivery model in the coming year?
The most material shift is the rapid adoption of AI without mature governance, driving demand for stronger identity-centric defenses, data protection, and continuous compliance. At the same time, firms are moving from perimeter security toward zero trust and identity-first controls across SaaS, hybrid, and multi-cloud environments. These trends are pushing managed services to embed governance, security, and evidence-ready reporting directly into daily operations – not as add-ons, but as part of the operating model.
What strategic initiatives is your firm implementing to address these expected changes?
Our AI services practice is being formalized around governance, security, and controlled adoption, including AI Governance Assessments, firm-wide AI policies, and executive-level AI awareness training. Secure AI enablement is also being integrated across Microsoft environments, enabling productivity gains within a compliant and governed framework. In parallel, zero trust architecture, identity-first security (MFA, Conditional Access, least privilege), data loss prevention, and continuous compliance monitoring are being embedded into our managed services. Clients receive board-level reporting on cyber and AI risk, while internal investments in AI-skilled engineers, repeatable deployment frameworks, and AI monitoring within our security stack ensure consistent, governed adoption.
What technological innovation or service enhancement introduced in the past 12 months has delivered the most meaningful impact for your clients?
In the past 12 months, Align translated its governance and always‑on service model into measurable client outcomes. Standardized, governance‑ready communications and executive reporting now provide risk and compliance teams with repeatable evidence of actions taken, improving audit readiness and operational due diligence. Guardian MDR (powered by Adlumin) enhancements are delivered as‑a‑service, so protection levels rise without upgrade projects, cutting internal burden and accelerating time‑to‑value. Together, clients gain a lower‑friction, continuously current security posture—and leadership gains clear visibility from incident to evidence.
