Balyasny Asset Management has added three new Portfolio Mangers to its trading team in both its New York and Miami offices as part of a broader restructuring of the multi-strategy major’s equity trading business, according to a report by Bloomberg.
The report cites a unnamed sources familiar with the matter as confirming that Andrew O’Connor is set join from Weiss Multi-Strategy Advisers LLC, which recently announced it would be shutting down after 46 years in business, later this month.
O’Connor will be based in New York, where he will be joined later this year by David Lohman who is leaving his role as a Portfolio Manager focused on the healthcare sector at Schonfeld Strategic Advisers to take up a PM role at Balyasny.
The their new addition is Vaibhav Bajpai, who is joining the firm’s Miami office where he has served as a Portfolio Manage for almost three years. Prior to LMR, Bajpai spent almost four years as an Associate Portfolio Manager at Ken Griffin’s Citadel.
