Balyasny Asset Management is adding to its equities platform with the launch of a new pod led by former Marshall Wace partner Steve Binetter, according to a report by eFinancialCareers.
Binetter, who spent around a decade at Marshall Wace in New York, most recently ran the firm’s global industrials strategy before its closure earlier this year. He is now establishing a unit at Balyasny called Techne. Before joining Marshall Wace, Binetter worked in M&A at UBS and later spent seven years at long/short equity manager Eminence Capital.
The move continues a run of senior hires at Balyasny. The firm brought in Ron Choy in April and Dave Brodsky in March, on packages of around $30m and $50m respectively. Both joined after experiencing drawdowns.
