Brevan Howard is planning to open an office in Greenwich, Connecticut, early next year, adding another US location to the $35bn macro-focused hedge fund manager's expanding global footprint, according to a report by Business Insider.
The report cites an unnamed person familiar with the plans as highlighting that new office will give the European-based firm its fourth US presence, alongside existing operations in New York and Austin and a Miami office scheduled to launch later this year.
Brevan Howard currently has employees in London, Jersey and Geneva. The firm has not established an office in Athens, despite growing speculation about Greece's ambitions to attract hedge fund businesses and wealthy investment professionals.
The decision to establish a Greenwich operation places Brevan Howard in one of the most established US centres for hedge fund talent. The Connecticut suburb and surrounding area are home to investment firms including AQR and Verition in Greenwich, Bridgewater Associates in nearby Westport, and Point72 and Viking Global in Stamford.
