Catalio Capital, the $2.3bn healthcare-focused investment firm backed by names including KKR and Brevan Howard, has hired Ajay Mantha as a partner within its public-equities business, according to a report by Business Insider.
He will join Catalio Public Equities next year, reporting to Ben Snedeker, the unit’s head. Catalio now manages roughly $900m following a recent capital infusion from Brevan Howard. It has average gains of 9.9%, but is reportedly up nearly 16% this year.
Mantha brings a long track record in healthcare investing. He previously led the healthcare team at Zimmer Partners, and before that spent nearly a decade at Bain Capital’s public-equities division as head of the healthcare group. Earlier roles included analyst positions at D.E. Shaw and work as a consultant at McKinsey.
