Linyun Fu, a software engineer at X who survived Elon Musk’s axing of 50% of jobs at the social media platform, has left the company after eight years to take up a new software engineering role at multi-strategy hedge fund major Citadel, according to a report by eFinancial Careers.
Fu, who will be based in New York, is a distributed systems developer, who at Twitter and then X, focused on developing apps for real-time rules-based event processing in Finagle, an open-source, Scala based system for the Java Virtual Machine (JVM).
Other former Twitter/X staff to make the switch to the finance industry include Juan Daniel López Serna, who left prior to the lay-offs to work on autonomous vehicles at Cruise before joining Capital One as a Senior Director, Technical Program Management focused on generative AI.
