Dye & Durham appoints hedge fund nominee to its board of directors

Related Topics

Toronto-headquartered legal technology company Dye & Durham has appointed Luke McCormick to its board of directors with immediate effect. The appointment is in line with its cooperation agreement with activist hedge fund firm Blacksheep Fund Management.

Dye & Durham signed the agreement with Blacksheep, which owns approximately 5.91% of the outstanding shares of the Company via the Blacksheep Master Fund, earlier this month.

McCormick is the Managing Director of Investments and a Partner at Generation Capital, a Toronto-based private investment management firm and is responsible for sourcing investment opportunities and managing the firm’s global portfolio across all asset classes, including public equity, private equity, real estate, and venture capital.

Prior to joining Generation Capital, he worked at Brookfield Renewable Energy Partners. McCormick holds an MBA from the Schulich School of Business at York University, a BSc in biology from King’s College, and is a CFA Charterholder.

Another activist fund, Engine Capital, also holds a stake in Dye & Durham, although that relationship is less cordial with the tech firm last week criticising the hedge fund’s “attempt to gain control of the Company without paying shareholders a premium” as “disingenuous”.
