Aaron Weiner, a former partner at Coatue Management, is launching a new long-short equity hedge fund, Atlantic Wolf Capital, with $3bn in initial capital provided exclusively by Izzy Englander’s  Millennium Management, according to a report by Bloomberg.
The report cites unnamed sources familiar with the matter as revealing that Atlantic Wolf Capital will focus on the healthcare sector, with Weiner, 32, serving as the sole portfolio manager. The fund is set to begin trading this quarter and aims to expand its team to over 10 employees by the end of the year.
Millennium, led by billionaire Izzy Englander, has been strategically backing external traders like Weiner as part of its growth strategy. The firm, which manages $72.3bn in assets, recently raised $10bn in new capital to fund such initiatives. A spokesperson for Millennium declined to comment, and Weiner did not respond to requests for comment.
Weiner joined Coatue in 2021 and quickly rose to prominence as head of healthcare investing. He was one of four partners trading public equities at the firm and managed a $3bn tactical-solutions fund, which focused on helping private companies avoid raising capital at lower valuations. His expertise in healthcare and tactical investing positions Atlantic Wolf Capital as a specialised player in the hedge fund space.
