Mark Levine, a seasoned hedge fund manager with over two decades at activist investor Elliott Management, is stepping out on his own and will manage personal wealth through his newly established venture Sargasso Partners, according to a report by The Times.

Levive spent 23 years with Elliott, which was founded by Paul Singer in 1977, and has made its mark as one of the world’s most forceful activist funds. Known for high-profile campaigns urging corporate breakups and sales, the firm has pursued aggressive strategies, including a lengthy legal battle with Argentina over debt, which netted $2.4bn. Today, Elliott manages nearly $70bn in assets and employs 570 people globally.

Levine, who joined Elliott in 1999, became a leading figure in the firm’s London operations, overseeing campaigns targeting major UK companies like National Express, Alliance Trust, and pharmaceutical giant GSK. He was a close associate of Gordon Singer, Paul Singer’s son and the head of Elliott’s London office since 2009.
