Aecus Partners, the newly launched equity boutique, has appointed Fan Ye — a seasoned long-short investor with a background in global equity funds — as a Global Portfolio Manager for the firm’s Global Equity Strategy, according to a report by CityWire.
Ye, who will work alongside ex-Comgest duo Arnaud Cosserat and Alistair Wittet, brings a strong track record in long-short investing, having founded and managed a global equity long-short strategy at Ginkyo Asset Management since 2022. Prior to that, he spent nearly nine years at Majedie Asset Management, where he was a key member of the Tortoise long-short team as well as the Global and UK equity long-only teams.
At Majedie, Ye played a pivotal role in fundamental stock selection and portfolio construction, focusing on deep-dive financial analysis and risk management in long-short strategies. His experience proved valuable during market dislocations, where he applied hedging techniques and downside protection strategies to generate returns. Majedie was acquired by Liontrust in 2021 for €140m, after which Ye transitioned to his own firm before joining Aecus.
Ye’s arrival coincides with Aecus’ launch of an Irish Ucits public fund this year. The firm will also leverage his expertise in company research and idea generation to support its European strategies.
Aecus Partners, founded in late 2024, focuses on concentrated European and Global equity portfolios. With an initial seed capital of €100m, it offers segregated account management. Ye is the first of two senior investment hires planned for 2025, reflecting the firm’s ambition to build a highly skilled team with deep investment expertise.
Based in London, Ye will travel frequently to Paris, where Aecus is headquartered.
