Priya Kodeeswaran, a former long-short manager at Man Group and Portfolio Manager at Millennium Management, is to serve as both Founder and Chief Investment Officer of his newly-launched hedge fund, Katamaran Capital, according to a report by Bloomberg.

London-based Kodeeswaran has launched the firm following a two year stint at Millennium Management having joined from Man Group in 2020.

Bloomberg cites unnamed sources with knowledge of the matter as revealing that Catamaran has secured around $350m in startup capital from Swedish investment company Brummer & Partners, which will be deployed in the firm’s flagship long-short equity fund focused on tech, media and telecoms in western markets.

Kodeeswaran reportedly first incorporated the company over the summer, having left Millennium in April. Previously, she spent four years at Man GLG running the Man GLG Innovation Equity Alternative fund, and prior to that he was responsible for a separate innovation-focused, long/short fund at RWC Partners – now Redwheel.
