Former Millennium portfolio manager Robert Bonte-Friedheim is gearing up to launch a London-headquartered equity hedge fund, Scarlet Macaw Capital, that will begin trading during the second quarter of the year with $200m, according to a report by Financial News.
The report cites unnamed sources familiar with the matter as revealing that the fund people will focus on emerging markets including Turkey and South Africa.
Bonte-Friedheim worked as a Senior Portfolio Manager at Millennium between 2019 and 2023.
Prior to that, he had a two year portfolio management stint at Michael Platt’s BlueCrest Capital Management between 2016 and 2018.
During his time at Millennium and BlueCrest, Bonte-Friedheim managed a liquid market-neutral strategy investing in Turkey, South Africa, Central and Eastern Europe, the Middle East, and North Africa.
