ExodusPoint adds ex-Goldman, BNP Paribas FX veteran to macro team

Related Topics

ExodusPoint Capital Management has bolstered its macro trading team with the hire of Baris Temelkuran, a seasoned options trader with over a decade of experience at Goldman Sachs and a stint as global currency options executive at BNP Paribas, according to a report by Bloomberg.

Temelkuran, who most recently operated as a freelance macro trader, will join the London office and report to Ozgur Kalenci, according to sources familiar with the matter.

The multi-strategy hedge fund, founded in 2017 by Michael Gelband and Hyung Lee with $8bn, now manages around $12bn and posted an 18% gain in 2025. The firm has expanded globally with offices in London, Singapore, Stamford, Jersey, Dubai, Tokyo and Hong Kong.

Temelkuran’s appointment follows a trend of ExodusPoint recruiting high-profile macro talent, including former BlueCrest manager Chris Wheeler, who joined the Dubai office last year. Macro strategies broadly benefited from heightened volatility in 2025, with firms such as Rokos Capital Management and Discovery Capital posting double-digit gains, while EDL Capital recorded its best performance since its 2015 launch.

The hire underscores ExodusPoint’s ongoing focus on expanding its macro capabilities across global markets.
