Mark Maislish, a former Goldman Sachs Managing Director, has joined Gibraltar-based online gaming company Pragmatic Play, following a short stint as a Portfolio Manager at multi-strategy hedge fund major Citadel, according to a report by eFinancial Careers.
Marlish joined Citadel from Goldman Sachs in February and left in June, and while he hasn’t commented publicly on the move, the report cites unnamed sources as confirming that he specifically left the hedge fund to join Pragmatic.
Founded by Julian Jarvis, a former UK barrister and general counsel at AOL during the dot-com boom, Pragmatic Play has a workforce of over 1,000 employees, primarily based in Romania and Bulgaria, with smaller groups in the UK and North America.
Maislish isn’t the first finance professional to pivot into gaming. In 2022, JPMorgan’s AI MD Andy Alexander moved to a data science role at Entain, another gaming company, although he eventually returned to finance.
