Balyasny Asset Management has appointed Alexander Dalsgaard as a power strategist in its Singapore office, strengthening the firm’s commodities investment platform as it continues to expand its presence in global energy markets.
Dalsgaard joins from Danish energy trading firm Danske Commodities, where he spent more than three years in quantitative and leadership roles across Denmark and Singapore. Most recently, he served as interim head of APAC while also working as a senior quantitative analyst.
The appointment forms part of Balyasny’s continued investment in its commodities business. In recent years, the multi-strategy hedge fund has expanded its natural gas and power trading capabilities, recruiting specialists from a range of energy trading firms and investment banks as competition for experienced commodities talent has intensified.
Singapore has become an increasingly important hub for global commodities trading, particularly across power, gas and broader energy markets, with hedge funds and proprietary trading firms continuing to build regional teams to capitalise on growing market opportunities.
