Goldman Sachs hires former Point72 MD in Warsaw

Related Topics

Goldman Sachs has hired Maciej Wolański, a former managing director at hedge fund Point72, into its Warsaw-based technology and engineering operations, further strengthening the bank’s largest hub in continental Europe, according to a report by eFinancial careers.

Wolański joins Goldman’s global banking and markets and engineering division, following five years at Point72, where he most recently served as country head for Poland. He previously held senior technology leadership roles at the hedge fund, including head of technology for Poland and head of middle and back-office technology.

Prior to Point72, Wolański spent three years at UBS in Krakow, where he worked as head of technology for Poland and global head of AI and data platforms for investment banking technology.

Wolański was among Point72’s earliest hires in Warsaw as the firm expanded into Poland, joining when the office employed fewer than 60 staff. Point72 has since grown its Polish workforce to more than 200 employees, with several global hedge funds — including Balyasny and Qube Research — also establishing local operations.

Goldman Sachs has continued to invest in Warsaw in recent years, with the city now hosting the bank’s largest office in continental Europe.
