Multi-strategy hedge fund major Balyasny Asset Management has added Wajih Ahmed, a former Goldman Sachs Vice President, top inflation trader, and former child mathematics prodigy in its London office, according to a report by Financial News London.
Ahmed, who joined Goldman Sachs at 18 and became one of its youngest VPs at 22, brings nearly a decade of experience in macro and inflation trading. He graduated from Southampton University at 17 and later earned a master’s from the London School of Economics, having scored 99% in his mathematics A-level aged 10, and 97% in further mathematics A-level aged 11.
The move underscores hedge funds’ ongoing efforts to recruit top banking talent, with Balyasny recently adding former Goldman FX options trader Simon Costello and Citadel’s David Brodsky. The firm manages $28bn across more than 20 offices globally.
