A number of leading hedge funds and quantitative investment firms have begun advertising internship opportunities for 2027, offering students a potential route into an industry that has traditionally recruited experienced professionals from investment banks, according to a report by eFinancial Careers.
Among the firms expanding their graduate and internship pipelines is DE Shaw, which has opened several London-based positions spanning trading and investment analysis, investor relations and systems engineering. The firm is also recruiting for a year-long systems administration placement.
Point72 has also launched applications for quantitative research and quantitative development internships, with programmes available across multiple global offices, including London. Additional placements are being offered in New York, Paris and Tokyo, depending on the role.
London-based hedge fund Capula is seeking candidates for a summer internship focused on trading and research, while quantitative trading firm Aquatic Capital Management has opened applications for quantitative research internships in both London and Chicago.
Meanwhile, Citadel is advertising a range of internship opportunities in Europe, including positions in quantitative research, software engineering and equities analysis. Some of the roles offer flexibility across offices in London, Paris and Zurich.
Beyond London, several prominent investment firms are also recruiting interns globally. Balyasny Asset Management is offering a quantitative research internship in Hong Kong, while Bridgewater Associates has investment-focused opportunities available in New York. Quantitative hedge fund Voloridge Investment Management is also hiring interns at its headquarters in Jupiter, Florida.
